Synopsis

This technical workshop is made up of lectures and hands-on lab exercise to teach basic routing concept, classifications of different routing protocols, Internet routing architecture, Basic network infrastructure design principles, OSPF, BGP etc. Also presented for understanding and to encourage best industry practice.

This workshop includes practical work using virtual Cisco IOS based routers. Familiarity with the IOS command line will be an advantage but not essential. Students should be comfortable with using a telnet tool, such as putty, that allows them to connect to a router console using specific port numbers.

Target audience

Basic to intermediate with a target audience of junior network engineers, senior help-desk staff and Unix system administrators.

Prerequisites

It is assumed that participants have a basic understanding of network operations, Internet technologies, OSI reference model, TCP/IP and router operating system software (i.e Cisco IOS etc).
