This 3-day hands-on training course will provide an intermediate-level introduction to Vulnerability Scanning, Penetration Testing, and essential security configurations for common services such as HTTP, SMTP, FTP, and SSH/SCP/SFTP. Each topic will be introduced, demonstrated, and then practiced in a simulated network environment where attendees can practice scanning, attacks, and defence.

This course is a continuation of the earlier 2-day tutorial InfoSec for System Administrators. It is recommended (but not strictly required) to have attended this previous tutorial before joining this course.

Target Audience

System Administrators, Engineers, IT Managers and Computer/Network Operators who are interested in information security, gaining an understanding of the threats they face and how to manage such threats.


  • It is assumed that participants have a basic understanding of network operations and Internet technologies.
  • Basic Linux command line (CLI) skills.
